We were all stunned by the Tomb Raider demo premiered at Microsoft's E3 conference early last month. It wasn't just the jaw-dropping visuals, the lifelike animation and surprisingly tense atmosphere; it truly felt like a return to form for what was once gaming's best action-adventurer. Tomb Raider has since conceded the throne to a number of treasure plunderers, namely Naughty Dog's fantastic Uncharted series, but according to developers Crystal Dynamics, fans needn't worry about similarities between the two rival franchises.
"They're [Uncharted] out this year, and we've already announced we're not coming out in 2011," explains the studio in the latest edition of PSM3 Magazine. "So it's not like we'll be going head to head". When it was first unveiled, naysayers dubbed Uncharted 'Dude Raider', due to its aesthetic and conceptual similarities to Crystal Dynamic's title. However, while Naughty Dog have targeted a very cinematic, scripted approach with their treasure hunter-starring series, Crystal Dynamic appear to be heading towards far more uncharted - sorry - territory with their pseudo-open world effort.
"And [Uncharted] is a different experience where you're... more drawn through the story than the elements of choice we're going to give," Crystal Dynamics told the mag. "We'll be a very different experience to that". Here at Dealspwn, we're very excited for both Uncharted 3 and the new Tomb Raider. But what's striking you as the better title, Dealspwners? Let's get a little tally going, shall we? [PS3Center]
