Top 100 Games of the Generation - Community Edition | 100 - 51

Yep, that's right. Thank you enormously to everyone who got involved with our Games of the Generation season, and thank you in particular to r3tract for suggesting a community list! The reception was so overwhelmingly awesome to our public vote that we figured we could run a Community Top 100 Games of Last-Gen rather than just fifty.

So here it is.

We kick off with the bottom 50, and there are definitely some surprises in here -- from both games I never thought would make a Top 100 to those that might have seemed a lock for the upper echelons of the chart.

But this is the glorious thing about democracy!

NB. Since most entrants ranked their lists, we decided to use those rankings to determine positioning. If your list wasn't ranked, then every game on it was given a score of 15 (the mean). Tiebreakers (those games with equal scores) were then positioned according to number of nominations.

Surprised at Halo 3 & 4 being down in the 90s.

Neither made my list, mind - my Xbox RROD'd a week after I got Halo 3, and by the time it got repaired/replaced I had other games to play and it fell by the wayside.
I think Halo 4 is in my backlog, not yet out of its cellophane.

Both beaten by Splosion Man. Democracy in action :D

Ah democracy!

Xenoblade in at 100? Guess it just shows how few people got a chance to experience that one in the end.

Can't wait for the Top 50, think there'll be a few surprises in there too.

I still can't believe EDF made the list :D

Personally I'm surprised Halo 4 made it onto the list at all. It wasn't terrible but for me it was by far the worst in the series. The new enemies are just incredibly boring to fight. Still, the game does have some 'wow' moments in it. Just disappointed that it looks unlikely that even one Halo game made it in the top 50. I can't see ODST being there even though I was sorely tempted to put it in instead of Reach.

I'm glad Earth Defence Force made it in though, but I do wonder if it was only my vote that put it there lol

Oh come on! EDF certainly isn't the best made game but it is just so much fun to play. The ridiculous hilarity of an explosion sending hundreds of dead spiders flying all over the place with the sound of a bowling ball strike should be enough for it to be in there alone!

@Drago: Surprisingly you were not the only one :D

Yeah there was certainly a lack of Halo love, which did surprise me a little given some of the Xbox-heavy lists.

Glad to see Avalanche get some love for Just Cause 2, though.

Risen at 92 makes me very happy as I loved that game.

As it is at 92 I guess I'm not the only one who enjoyed it and didn't just look at the scores on meta-critic and ignore it.

As for Halo, I really didn't enjoy 3 and ODST was OK but nothing outstanding and I haven't played Reach or 4 so they were never going to make my list.

I hope Nier makes the list but as we are in the top 50 now I will be very surprised.

And with the recent user created MP mod for Just cause 2, all the more reason to head back to Panau!

Still thing there need too be more games that allow me to do utterly ridiculous things like base jump off of a mountain, onto the back of a moving vehicle, before hookshot-ing my way into an army chopper and then liberating a township from the control of the corrupt government military.

It's so damn good.
