It's been a fairly eventful Gamescom thus far, and we're going to have plenty of previews and interviews and hands-on impressions going live over the next few weeks. There have been some rather big surprises over the last 48 hours too, and here are five things that have been announced or unveiled this week that have really captured our attention.

Doff of my cap (or five) for using the word 'vituperative' in context :D

Haha thanks! If there are any words you (or indeed anyone else) would like me to try and fit into whatever vid happens next (probably Elite or Bayonetta 2) let me know :D

Have Capcom got their own stall?

If so, that would CAP it all.

(Nailed it)

Have a great day.

Hey Matt, I have one. Antidisestablishmentarianism. Should be easy enough, right?

Thanks. Have a great day, going forward.

Does that mean we should have a great day from here on out, or are you declaring that you're literally moving in a forward direction?

Matt - My nominated word is plankton. I just rewatched Blue Planet.

snotters  Aug. 14, 2014 at 20:36

Going forward - a phrase used with impunity by everyone in the media, from football pundits to politicians to weathermen. I'm trying to introduce it to the gaming community going forward.

Have a great day.

Oh man. Antidisestablishmentarianism will be a tough one. If I was doing a Crusader Kings or Medieval Total War vid it would be a piece of cake.

The longest word in the dictionary would have been much easier: pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. Could have worked that into Elite no problem, provided I found a volcanic planet.

Plankton I have a few ideas for.

My nominated word is "exclusive".

Ha! Good luck getting that one in...

Anarchist  Aug. 14, 2014 at 22:53

I would like, our dictionaries longest palindrome - Rotavator. Cheers!

Quietus  Aug. 14, 2014 at 23:12

Oh dear. Matt, you really shouldn't have started me off with words. It's kind of a hobby.:p

If you're going for pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis, then you may as well go a step further, and try to slip in osseocarnisanguineoviscericartilagninonervomedullary. A word that is much more possible would be floccinaucinihilipilification, or, just for the irony, try hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia.

For more realistic, but cool, words, try these:
Exsanguinate
Soliloquy
Pulchritude
Concupiscence

OK, I'm going back to my dictionary now...:D

You play CK2? You should seriously check out the Game of Thrones mod for it. I've wasted away entire 5 hour chunks of my life on that game far too often.

MattGardner  Aug. 15, 2014 at 09:08

I toyed with soliloquy for the MIND review, but monologue proved a bit more precise in that instance.

@soulleech: I did not know such a thing existed (not played CK2 in months tbh just because of time...that game eats weeks) and now I must have it in my life.
