This Is The Plan: Get Your Ass To Mars
I have absolutely no idea why Total Recall is getting a silver screen remake (seriously, Hollywood is lazier than any Triple-A publisher), but new intel suggests that a free-to-play browser game will be tying in with it next year. ZQGame plan to deliver an "engaging and authentic experience" through their MMO, and we'll give it the benefit of the doubt for the time being. Full details below.
Chinese studio ZQGame (the outfit behind Shadowland) and publisher SEE Games have announced the property for August 2012, which has the official backing and support of Sony Pictures. It will be a free-to-play browser MMO that features traditional gameplay elements, minigames, PVP, PVE and a memory-sharing quest system. A specially designed engine with the power to render large 3D worlds in-browser will power the project.
Total Recall is an international phenomenon; we know this well-known property will make a great 3D browser based game.
With SEE Games and ZQGame’s expertise, Total Recall will offer fans of the franchise and gamers alike an engaging and authentic experience – one that will deliver everything that the fans expect and will dovetail perfectly with the upcoming film. - Mark Caplan, Sony Pictures
Interesting. Here's hoping that ZQGame will ensure sure their Total Recall MMO is a good game first and a tie-in second. Here's hoping.
