Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen £7.99 @ The Game Group [PS3 Games]

If you've ever wanted to control a giant robot that can instantly switch between a well disguised vehicle and a walking talking bucket of bolts that's armed to the teeth, then you'll want to check out Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

You can grab a copy of the game on the PS3 for £7.99 from The Game Group (Game, Gameplay, and Gamestation), which is almost £5 cheaper than the next best offer of £12.89 coming in from Sendit.

The main game loosely follows the plot of the film and is divided into two campaigns, one for the noble Autobots and another for the dastardly Decepticons, which luckily are different enough that you won't get bored when you finish one and move onto the next. The missions drop you into a destructible environment that'll usually turn into a battlefield pretty quickly, unfortunately despite the fact the surroundings change the format is incredibly repetitive.

As with the original game, you'll need to get to grips with the controls as switching between your vehicle and robot form can initially be a bit disorientating. However, once you're used to the almost instantaneous transformation it becomes your greatest asset, allowing you to speed towards an enemy only to explode into your robot form and pound them to the ground with your fists. On the other hand, if you're the one taking a beating you'll be able to change into your vehicle form and make a quick getaway in order to recover. Unlike the original there are now three different forms you can take, consisting of your vehicle form, robot form, and weapons form.

Multiplayer allows you to party up with a group of Autobots and take on a group of rival Decepticons, or vice versa. Whilst reducing your enemies to scrap is hugely enjoyable, an overall victory can usually be achieved by utilising the special abilities that are unique to each transformer.

It might not be the greatest game in the world but it's a great deal of fun, and you're less likely to be disappointed now it's price tag is under a tenner.

possibly due to the upcoming release of the ew Transformers non-movie related game that has a rather fun if flawed multiplayer element that alone is available to download currently on XBL & PSN
