Transistor Is Next Game From Bastion Creators, Looks Utterly Gorgeous

Sci-Fi Action RPG Sounds Gorgeous Too

Supergiant Games have revealed their next game as sci-fi action RPG Transistor. As you'd expect from the creators of Bastion, it's looking really rather special indeed even at this early stage.

Hauntingly beautiful trailer, screens and details after the break.

Supergiant Games broke the news on their blog, confirming that the new project is set to release in early 2014. Players assume the role of a young woman who gains control of a powerful weapon (the titular Transistor), but ends up beset by mysterious forces who want it back. She'll therefore have to battle through the neon streets of Cloudbank, all the while discovering why the city's most influential voices are being silenced.

"We’re designing our next game to seamlessly integrate thoughtful strategic planning into a fast-paced action experience, complete with our studio’s signature melding of responsive gameplay and rich atmospheric storytelling," explains Supergiant's Greg Kasavin. "All of us from the Bastion development team are working together again on this new project, with the aid of a handful of talented new people who’ve joined us since Bastion’s launch."

As you can see from the trailer and screenshots, it's definitely built on Bastion's DNA, but provides a wildly colourful futuristic setting. You'd better believe that we'll be watching this like a hawk, since that theme song alone will likely be haunting us for some time.
