Treyarch: Blops 2 To Be "The Most Provocative, Shocking, Engaging" COD Yet

Them's fightin' words! Treyarch's game director for Black Ops 2 has (predictably) suggested that it's going to kick the behind off of all that came before it, promising no shortage of thrills and spills, and maybe even hinting at a little controversy-rustling to come.

“Obviously I can’t give anything away, but I can tell you, absolutely, that Black Ops 2 is going to be the most provocative, shocking, engaging story that a Call of Duty player has ever seen,” he told CVG.

“I am very, very proud of how hard the team has worked, and how the game has turned out, and I can’t wait for the fans to get hold of this thing.”

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is out on November 12th for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

I'll have a preview for you soon - BlOps 2 is shaping up rather nicely. It will be interesting to see how many Strike Force objectives are actually included, though, since Treyarch described them as a "handful of missions."

######## will be the best Call of Duty yet.

Our award winning gaming engine has been fine-tuned to a degree where it's almost unrecognisable - and yet all players, whether new to the series or old hands, will find it to be completely intuitive and balanced to a perfection - as well as utterly beautiful.

Call of Duty is renowned for it's multi-player aspects, and we've given that a complete overhaul. You'll still be able to play your favourite game modes on an exciting and diverse range of maps, but there will also be a number of new modes as well as a completely new perk system that's much more balanced than has been seen before.

The single player aspect of Call of Duty is sometimes overlooked, but this year's instalment, ########, has a fantastic story which even the most battle weary soldier will find utterly compelling. There are a few shocks and surprises in there - one or two of which may cause controversy - culminating in one of the greatest gaming moments seen to date.

I'd like to thank everyone involved in making this game. It's been a challenge, but so much fun - and I can't wait to see how much you guys love playing it.

######## = insert COD title here before making your COD press release. If using the press release again next year, the year after, etc. please try to change a few words here and there.
Under no circumstances should you admit the game is the same as every other COD, but with a few aspects slightly modified by a team of three part-time coders.

I agree they all look the same. And that x-ray sniper might be a gamebreak. For the first time I'm only buying a COD for it's singleplayer side. BLOPS 1 story line was amazing

@Late: Heh. ;)

In fairness, though, while that's probably true for the Modern Warfare series, Treyarch are actually willing to experiment and deviate from the formula. BlOps was undeniably distinct from WaW, for example, and BlOps 2 packs a fair amount of new features including both the setting, tech and Strike Force Missions. Plus, you can fly a plane, which is nice. I've always found Treyarch's offerings to be a breath of fresh air from Infinity Ward's bi-yearly releases rather than a retread of old ground.

Like Ray118, I'm actually more excited about the singleplayer campaign - I just hope that it's long enough to satisfy as well as being replayable.

"the most shocking"

Oh dear... that means the will do something stupid like No Russian 2 to shock some free advertising out of the deal.

While I agree that treyarch do better than the remains of IW with CoD, I am in doubt about their engine claims.

You can't polish a t-u-r-d, you can only roll it in glitter.
