Open-World Persistent Driving Crime Game
Ubisoft Reflections have blown the lid off The Crew, which is an ambitious new twist on your traditional driving sandbox. The Crew will allow you and three friends to form a criminal Crew to make sweeping gains across numerous US cities, which are all part of a "persistent" online world whether you're in singleplayer or looking for group.
'Ambitious' doesn't quite cover it. More details and trailer below.
“How can we use [next-gen] tech to change the status quo of driving games,” posited Ubisoft's Julian Garrity. The answer, it turns out, is to construct an enormous persistent game world to race in - a "video game world as big as has ever been created." Cities like New York, Miami and countless others will ostensibly be mapped down to the suburbs, teeming with race events, capers to pull and rivals to embarrass. Your crew of four will bicker over territory, race or take down competitors and escape the long arm of the law.
Players will be able to customise their cars right down to the engine, even using a free iPad app to labour over their designs while away from their controllers.
The Crew is slated for PS4 and Xbox One, release date TBA. We'll be keeping a very close eye on it.
