UK Games Charts | 28 November 2011

Another week, another top spot for Modern Warfare 3. While many have chosen not to buy into this year's annualised blockbuster - and others have since moved on to pastures new - its great value and sheer brand power are still shifting a lot of copies. Ezio's latest adventure is still grappled onto second place despite it possibly being a rehash too far.

Elsewhere, little has changed save the arrival of WWE 2012 and Professor Layton: Spectre's Call.

Which is odd, because some major games have just released. Heartbreakingly, the exceptional platformer Rayman Origins has completely failed to chart in the top 40 (though it only released on Friday, admittedly) and sub-par hack & slasher LOTR: War In The North only limped into the finish at 38th. Maybe... just maybe... releasing in the middle of the retail killing fields wasn't actually a good idea for these smaller titles? Hate to say I told you so.

UK Top ten after the break.

  1. Modern Warfare 3 (-)
  2. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations (-)
  3. Saints Row: The Third (+1)
  4. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (-1)
  5. FIFA 12 (-)
  6. WWE '12 (new)
  7. Professor Layton & The Spectre's Call (new)
  8. Just Dance 3 (+2)
  9. Battlefield 3 (-1)
  10. Super Mario 3D Land (-1)

Massive shame about Rayman but absolutely no surprise. The demo was excellent and I would have certainly bought it in July/August, but against Skyrim there was only ever going to be one winner

There's a Rayman origins?
Kudos on the advertising Ubisoft (I assume Ubisoft)... :|

I'll add it to the list of games I'll get round to buying when it's less busy and the price drops. (A list headed by Saints Row 3 and Assassin's Creed 2.2)
Might be a while, though - have properly gotten into MW3 in the last few days. (Still can't find my way 'round most of the maps, mind.)
