I posted a deal just before Christmas regarding Simply Games' price on the fantastic Uncharted 2 and anyone put off by the £31.89 price tag then might be interested to know that the folks at PowerPlayDirect have now pushed their price of Nathan Drake's latest adventure down below thirty quid to the wallet-friendly price of £28.99, saving you almost £3. Here at Dealspwn we're all about getting good value for money and, to be honest, you would have been hard pressed to find a more fulfilling and engrossing gaming experience for a full price game this year, let alone at this lower price. Uncharted 2 does pretty much everything right, providing a thrilling interactive story, gorgeous graphics, seamless gameplay mechanics, and some of the best action set-pieces I've ever seen. It's no wonder Hollywood wants to find a way to bring Nathan Drake to the big silver screen as he's basically out-blockbustered the blockbuster with this one.
Mr. Drake has turned his back on the world of treasure hunting since the first game, although it's not long until he's lured back into the moral fog of tomb raiding as he hops across most of Eastern Europe and Asia to beat a crazy warmonger to the mystical Cintamani Stone. There are twists aplenty, Drake gets laid, and there's a lot of (often quite literal) cliffhangers.
This is all wrapped up in a game that looks amazing. Sometimes you have to just stop and swing the camera round for a moment or two before gathering up your jaw from the floor and pressing on. The combat, too, is satisfyingly up to scratch with the rest of the game, with the rhythm-based melee combat in particular proving pleasingly bone-crunching.
As I said in my previous post for Uncharted 2, if there was ever a reason to buy a PS3, then this is most certainly it.
