Considered by many to be the Game of the Year 2009, Uncharted 2 is an action adventure that truly shines and offers the ultimate argument for the Playstation 3 as an essential console.
Serious bargains for the game tend to be few, far between and very short lived. This is the first time I have seen it dip below the £30 mark since Powerplay Direct's great but blink-and-you'll-miss it deal a month back and is the cheapest by a couple of pounds (next best price is £31.89 from Simply Games) at the moment.
Despite allegedly swearing off the treasure hunting, Uncharted 2 sees adrenaline junkie Nathan Drake dashing about like a mad thing once again, this time in search of the legendary Cintamani stone, hidden away in the cargo of Marco Polo's lost fleet. The plot is fun and engaging and is woven through the perfectly paced action expertly, adding to the game's blockbusting cinematic feel.
Every aspect of Uncharted 2 oozes style and quality. The graphics are phenemonal both technically and artistically, giving a dazzling vitality to the environments therein and are complemented by fantastic, hollywood class voice acting that bring the script and its colourful characters to life. The controls feel intuitive and help make the varied combat thrilling and always fun.
You also get a very enjoyable multiplayer game for your money, with eight different ways to gun down your nearest and dearest once the single player campaign is done.
No game is perfect and its a shame that there's no multiplayer co-op mode and sometimes the rules of what you can and cannot do can seem arbitrary and frustrating but these are minor niggles which seem barely worth mentioning when there's so much here to appreciate.
