Free Crossover DLC Headed To PC Versions
Valve and Capcom sitting in a tree, making-some-free-DLC.
The Resident Evil 6 x Left 4 Dead 2 project sees Valve and Capcom working together on crossover DLC that transplants familiar characters and enemies into the two respective franchises.
Left 4 Dead's Coach, Nick, Ellis and Rochelle will become playable characters in Resident Evil 6's PC-exclusive The Mercenaries: No Mercy multiplayer mode. Each character will boast a unique weapon loadout, which will come in handy against the Witch and Mini Tank special infected mid-bosses, who'll also make the jump. The new content will be available from April 5th as an automatic update.
Conversely, three of Resident Evil 6's most powerful undead variants will make the jump onto the PC version of Left 4 Dead 2. The disturbing Lepotitsa, Napad and Ogroman have been created using the Steam workshop toolkit, and will be made available "this Spring."
Both DLC packs will be completely free to download, but be aware that they'll only be available in the PC versions.
“We’re huge Resident Evil fans," explained Valve writer Chet Faliszek, "so when the opportunity arose to work directly with Capcom to combine L4D2 and RE6, we jumped at it.”
Resident Evil 6 Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi added: “The Resident Evil 6 team really enjoyed working on this crossover, and we’re confident that our fans will have a great time with it too! We hope you enjoy this unique content.”
