"Something With A 3 In It"
Remember last week when Half-Life 3 tidbits leaked in quick succession? We hoped for a shock VGA reveal, but much to our lack of surprise, Valve simply accepted Portal 2 awards, with no sign or sound of Half-Life 3. Until now, that is. Spurned fans took to 4Chan to devise a nonsensical email intended for Valve chief, Gabe Newell, who got wind of the uprising and took to the forums to assuage their concerns.
"I don’t suppose it would ease your wrath if I told you we’re announcing all of your favorite things at E3?” Newell told the angry Half-Life mob on 4Chan. A vague tease, of course, and it only served to rile them up, so Newell was forced to once again post on 4Chan to be a little less vague. "I can see how the wording caused some confusion there. Yes, we’re announcing something with a three in it.”
Now, with all the Half-Life 3 news within the last week, the obvious answer to Newell's tease is Half-Life 3. Right? Well, don't forget, Valve has found considerable success lately with their reality-bending series, Portal. If Valve were to continue said series, they'd be forced by chronological demands to affix a '3' at the end? And what of Team Fortress too?
Precarious times if you're a Half-Life 3 fan, then. I sincerely hope it is indeed Freeman's return, but who knows what Valve have up their sleeve for E3 2012. [4Chan]
