Best Videogame Endings... of all time?

JonLester |  Feb. 10, 2012 at 13:50

The Guinness Book Of World Records has officially collated what they consider to be the top 50 videogame endings of all time, taking both story and gameplay into account.

And it's BROKEN.

This will not stand. We've got Top Ten Tuesdays for a reason, and to make our list as representative as possible, we'd like to get plenty of reader feedback. What endgame sections will you always remember? Which ones made you whoop with joy or sob uncontrollably? Which bosses pushed you to the limits, and what revelations brought your worlds crashing down? Tell us!

Red Dead Redemption. It was a "Nooooooooo!" moment when XXX got XXX outside the barn. Then you got to play as XXX to get revenge. It was satisfying.

Medal of Honour: Allied Assault had a great ending...

Games I loved the ending of:

- Final Fantasy 6
- Halo 1
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (1)
- God of War 3

I must say, on the whole, endings are something that have improved with modern games. Thinking of all the old games I completed, other than RPGs, most had really lame endings (usually some kind of "Well done, Game over").

While I don't think games are as fun anymore, you can't fault them on spectacle.
