It seems it is beat 'em up day for me as, after reporting on Street Fighter IV's ongoing price drop earlier, I now wish to share the great price of Virtua Fighter V. This game was very well received and was awarded high scores all round but sadly its commercial success never matched its critical acclaim. The good news is that this means that it is now available for super cheap so it may be worth giving it a chance. Play are selling the game for just £6.99, which is almost £7 cheaper than the price asked by the next cheapest competitor.
Virtua Fighter 5 really is stunning visually, with fighters so pretty that it seems an awful shame to throw your fist into those chiselled cheekbones and backdrops so gorgeous that you may be confused as to why these characters would want to slug it out when they could be staring, open mouthed, at their glorious surroundings.
There are now seventeen different fighters, each with their own unique style of combat which keeps things interesting. They are however well balanced and all feel great to play. If you are new to the series then you will have a lot of fun finding your slugger of choice. That said, it is not the most beginner-friendly game out there and it may take some getting used to.
A lot of emphasis was put on the online multiplayer opportunity presented by Virtua Figher 5 so it is a real shame that it lacks any real kind of community with which to take full advantage of the competitive mode.
