If, like me, you let the drama of Wimbledon slip through your fingers (only to tune just as the trophy was being lifted once more by Federer!) or if it all seemed to fly by faster than a super serve by Andy Roddick, then check out this deal from Game. They are offering a combined package of Virtua Tennis and the long awaited Wii Motion Plus for just £29.99. This is a great deal considering the game is only £5 cheaper and Wii Motion Plus alone will set you back around £15. So, if you own a Wii and were planning to upgrade to Motion Plus anyway you should definitely take advantage of this deal.
Virtua Tennis on Wii is by all accounts a far better purchase when compared with its Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 counterparts. The gameplay on these platforms just follows the same old tennis format we have seen over and over again. However on the Wii, and particularly when used in conjunction with Motion Plus, the game is much more dynamic.
Motion Plus offers the player a hugely enhanced level of interaction with all Wii games when compared with the standard controller. And although there is enjoyment to be had playing Virtua Tennis the old way, it feels tired and cumbersome when you get your hands on the new technology.
Overall MP adds a much needed edge to the gameplay of Vitua tennis. The relatively poor graphics and unrealistic backdrop fail to give the game any semblance of the tension and atmosphere you’d expect at a real tennis tournament. So all in all, an average game is made great when combined with MP, and the enhanced level of gameplay will have you cracking those backhands with an unparalleled sense of realism.
