Today marks the launch of long-awaited Vita firmware update v.1.80, which adds the new cross-controller functionality for LittleBigPlanet 2, extra music/video features and rear touch pad support for the web browser. However, the headline news is naturally that PSOne classics are now compatible with the Vita - so if you've already downloaded some on your PS3, you will be able to transfer them over to your handheld.

Nine titles will be avaible to download directly from your Vita tomorrow (including FFVII) - we've got the list below as well as a full run-down of the compatible games library.

PSOne Classics available to download on Vita this week:

  • Arc the Lad
  • Cool Boarders 2
  • FINAL FANTASY VII
  • Hot Shots Golf 2
  • Jet Moto
  • Syphon Filter
  • Tomb Raider
  • Twisted Metal 2
  • Wild Arms

Shadowmancer88 reminds us: "You can transfer games to play from the PS3 for now though, you have to download and transfer the install file not the installed version to be able to play them on the Vita." Thanks!

You can't buy or download PS1 games form the Store just yet, you have to wait till tomorrow. You can transfer games to play from the PS3 for now though, you have to download and transfer the install file not the installed version to be able to play them on the Vita.

That's right - I did say 'tomorrow' in the post (the games will be delivered as part of the store update). Good advice RE the install file vs installed game, though - I've put your comment into the article text and credited you.
