The Tank Museum at Bovington is awesome. And it's about to get even better.
World of Tanks developers Wargaming.net have announced their involvement in sponsored the creation of an education centre at Bovington, home of Europe's largest tank museum.
At this year's Tankfest -- running from 29th - 30th June -- Wargaming CEO Victor Kislyi will unveil a special plaque to commemorate the event.
"World of Tanks has generated huge interest in the history of armoured warfare amongst young people on-line,” Said Victor Kislyi Wargaming CEO “and with this room we can take this enthusiasm into the classroom to give a new generation of children a better appreciation of their national heritage."
A grant of £80,000 will transform a previously unused room in The Tank Museum into "a contemporary, state-of-the-art class room; with a modern AV system, a suite of 20 high spec computers and seating for up to 60 students".
“I am delighted that Wargaming.net are supporting The Tank Museum by funding our new Education Centre. This will be the first time that The Tank Museum has had a dedicated teaching space and will make a huge impact on the 7,000 school children who use our facilities each year,” Richard Smith Director the Tank Museum said. “The Wargaming.net Education Centre is such a first class facility, that it will make The Tank Museum’s Education Service much more attractive to schools in the region and further afield. We estimate that we will double the number of school visits within the next five years."
Tank you very much, indeed, Wargaming.
