If you used to collect any of Games Workshop's 40K models and wanted to see them come to life then Space Marine's probably the game for you. The combat in this one is pretty good fun as you rip enemies apart from afar with guns, or knock them down with powerful melee moves. Amazon and Play are parting with PC copies of the game for £10, which should make you a saving of almost £5 on the next best offer coming in from ShopTo.
If you've ever been a collector of Games Workshop's little models and you want to see them come to life in a video game filled with violent melee combat along with intense gun battles, then you might want to grab yourself a PS3 copy of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine from The Hut for £9.95, which should save you just over £2 on the next best offer coming in from Simply Games. Unfortunately, getting in to a multiplayer match can be a little bit of a chore and the single player is incredibly linear. Thanks to Syzable @ HUKD.
Green Man Gaming's short-lived £7.49 deal is history, and Play.com have stepped into the breach with a higher price that still carries a major saving. As far as Space Marine is concerned, it's a decent stab at a Warhammer 40,000-themed shooter. The action is solid and the chainsword-swinging melee is just sooooooooo satisfying to pull off. However, the campaign is extremely linear and never quite seems to escalate as much as it should. Why can't we use the jetpacks more? Why isn't there more lore for tabletop fans to revel in? Still, ventilating enemies is always great fun, and certainly worth a tenner.
Now that this one's come down in price a little bit, it's definitely worth a punt, especially if you've ever collected Warhammer models at some point in your life. Stomping around as an Ultramarine blasting everything that comes across your path can be pretty good fun, even if the levels are a little bit on the linear side of things. Simply Games are parting with Xbox 360 copies of the game for £12.99, which'll make you a saving of almost £2 on the next best offer coming in from Zavvi. Thanks to westwood1 @ HUKD.
Play.com have loosed a massive barrage of great deals today, the first of which is for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. Relic's shooter is a decent stab at a Warhammer 40,000-themed shooter, as far as it goes. The action is solid and the chainsword-swinging melee is just sooooooooo satisfying to pull off. However, the campaign is extremely linear and never quite seems to escalate as much as it should. Why can't we use the jetpacks more? Why isn't there more lore for tabletop fans to revel in? In fact, why isn't there just more of everything?
I daresay that Amazon and other outfits will scramble to match this price over the next few hours, so we'll keep an eye on it.
Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine is shaping up pretty well. Check out Matt's preview for all the gory details on that. Taking a step away from the series' RTS roots, Space Marine thwacks you in the reinforced boots of the titular hero and tasks you with defending an ancient weapon from a fearsome Ork Waaagh. Interested? Well, it's only £28.85 at ShopTo if you're buying it for PC.
