Brian Fargo and inXile have raised over three million Dollars for Wasteland 2 at the conclusion of their highly successful kickstarter campaign.
Over 60,000 sponsors raised a whopping $2,932,786 through Kickstarter, while an impressive direct PayPal pledge of $107,137 takes the total above the three million Dollar watershed. This money will be used to create a direct isometric RPG sequel to Wasteland, which is widely credited as the first post-apocalyptic role-playing videogame and informed the creation of the Fallout franchise.
Fargo has assembled quite the dream team for Wasteland 2, including Obsidian Entertainment's Chris Avellone who will lend his expertise to creating missions, storylines and characters. Fallout co-founder Jason Anderson will pen the story. Original Wasteland designers Alan Pavlish and Mike Stackpole are back on board, and the game will be scored by Mark Morgan (who created the soundtrack for Fallout 1 and 2). With such a whopping war chest and some experienced designers at the helm, Wasteland 2 has the potential to be truly exceptional.
And now, as with all Kickstarter games, the waiting begins.
