Watch Dogs £29.99 on PS4/Xbox One at Grainger Games

Watch Dogs | Grainger Games | £29.99 | Review

Watch Dogs is cracking game in so many ways. The chases are awesome, the ways you can manipulate the city of Chicago are pretty damn cool, and I got a real kick out of some of the infiltration and intrusion missions. But it's also enormously bloated. There's a lot of content here, and it's certainly worth picking up, but you can't help but feel that Ubisoft could have trimmed off a large quantity of excess fat here.

Still, £29.99 for it on next-gen consoles is a top shout. Hats off to Bure11 for spotting it.

Note it's £24.99 for a preowned copy, for those who aren't too bothered about the dubious joy of removing the cellophane themselves.

Bought myself a second hand copy (on xb1) from Grainger toward the back end of last week - in store, as I don't usually like to buy second hand games without seeing the condition first - and am thoroughly enjoying it so far.
Sure, it's not as shiny as the initial release trailers, and there's a few niggles* but it still looks and plays nice.

Haven't gotten terribly far through the story yet. I've mainly been unlocking towers, skimming money from peoples' bank accounts, playing mini-games, and hunting collectibles. I get the distinct impression I could spend a week doing that stuff and not make much of a dent in it all. Which is fine by me. I'll happily play with the bloat. (That sounds wrong!)
As is usually the case, I'm happiest when I have lots of choice - and I like that there's dozens of mini-games there to distract me from the main story or ignore as I see fit.

* 3 crashes so far (2 with the game just failing to recognise any input from the controller, both times whilst playing texas hold-em, and one with the game making a horrible noise and crashing to dashboard);
the camera angle can be annoying when manoeuvring cars;
and the "choices" of clothes (same outfit but in different colours) are annoying;
oh - and I have no idea what to do with my money. I seem to have accumulated a quarter mil in no time, I believe I have every item of clothing and every weapon, and (so far) there's no facility to buy much of anything else.
