Watch Dogs sells 8 million copies, now top dog in the UK Games Charts

Watch Dogs is still one of the most divisive game releases of 2014, but there's no quibbling with the numbers. Love it or hate it, thrilled or disappointed, eight million copies sold is a huge start for a new franchise. Not to mention a chart success guarantee. What did you make of Aiden Pearce's debut?

On the subject of new franchises, though, Tomodachi Life has sneaked into the Top Ten this week. Nintendo's quirky life sim is is bizarre and banal, but surprisingly fun to dip into little and often. It's also screenshot gold, as you can see above. Yes, that is Reggie and The Cat from Red Dwarf X in the background.

Otherwise expect plenty of familiar faces in the UK Games Charts, as detailed below.

UK Charts: Week Ending 12th July, 2014 (previous chart position in parentheses, links to reviews where appropriate)

  1. Watch Dogs (2)
  2. Sniper Elite 3 (1)
  3. FIFA 14 (3)
  4. Wolfenstein: The New Order (5)
  5. Titanfall (4)
  6. Call Of Duty: Ghosts (6)
  7. Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition (10)
  8. Minecraft PS3 Edition (9)
  9. Tomodachi Life (11)

Used my £20 ebay password apology voucher to get it cheap. Still not played it.

Would buy it, but eBay didn't give me a £20 voucher...

huh ebay apology? where ? when? how? (im guessing the answer to two of those is: on ebay and when they had the heartbleed thing, but how do you go about getting one?

Ebay were dishing out vouchers to people a couple of weeks ago to apologise for having to reset passwords over possible security breaches. I can't remember if it was heartbleed related.

Unfortunately not everyone got these vouchers. They were usually for £20, though sometimes higher, and were sent by email - but would also show as a payment option in your account on ebay when you looked at items.

There's details on the hukd thread below.
