White Xbox One console might release this October - would you buy One?

The snazzy white Xbox One model was previously only available to Microsoft employees, but you can always rely on  indiscreet retailers to accidentally jump the gun. By the looks of things, you'll be able to buy one in a bundle with Sunset Overdrive later this year.

As reported by AGB, French retailer Micromania posted and quickly rescinded a listing for the ivory SKU, as part of a Sunset Overdrive and Kinect Bundle for €399. If true... and it does tie in oh-so-nicely with megaton rumours that are coming to pass at an alarming rate... this suggests that Microsoft might be trying to deploy a direct competitor to Sony's white PS4 Destiny bundle this Christmas. As an Xbox One owner myself, I reckon that the white chassis will do a better job of disguising fingerprint smudges and scratches, if looking somewhat garish in the middle of your AV cabinet.

The timing is also suggestive. Microsoft are set to deliver their Gamescom press conference next week, meaning that retailers will have presumably been briefed about any major announcements in advance. This certainly lends credence to the rumours, and we'll likely be able to put this report to bed in a few days' time one way or another.

Would you be interested in buying a white Xbox One? Recently we suggested that Microsoft ought to release a cheaper model without HDMI throughput, but as the consumer, the ball's in your court! Bouncing lazily into your wallet, perhaps.

"garish in the middle of your AV cabinet" hit the nail exactly on the head.

Though by itself i imagine it looks lovely, placed next to a black reciever, black center speaker, black Wii U, Black PC & underneath a black TV.

This would personally bother me so much

I think you're overestimating the cost saving removing the hdmi passthrough would bring.
In my opinion the PS4 and XB1 are both too bulky to pull white off in a lounge situation.
Personally I think the Fifa 15/Forza 5 399Euro bundle is stronger than the Sunset overdrive white bundle.
I just wish Xbox would sort out there sodding bundles in the UK.
Amazon had XB1, kinect, Black Flag and Titanfall the other day for the same price that people are selling the kinectless XB1 with no games.

A few years ago I had a white Sky decoder, a white xbox360, a white Wii, and a silver dvd player, all under a silver/grey TV. This would've done me nicely a few years ago.

I currently have black xbox 360, black xbox One, black Sky decoder, and black media player, under a black TV. I'd hate to put a white device in there now.

I'm not bothered what colours the latest devices are so long as they don't look too ridiculous next to each other.

I'm also with giefmebundle as regards the presumably tiny saving if they were to remove hdmi passthrough. Leave it, assuming it costs next to nothing. You should be adding or expanding - not removing features.

Can I get these from Argos now, as we're taking the kids into town tomorrow (the youngest needs a new bike helmet and we need to stock up on stationery for when the kids go back to school)?

@Snotters: The white Xbox One still hasn't been officially announced yet; this is just a likely rumour at present. We'll report on retailers and potential bargains nearer launch, assuming Microsoft announces this for Europe!
