The snazzy white Xbox One model was previously only available to Microsoft employees, but you can always rely on indiscreet retailers to accidentally jump the gun. By the looks of things, you'll be able to buy one in a bundle with Sunset Overdrive later this year.
As reported by AGB, French retailer Micromania posted and quickly rescinded a listing for the ivory SKU, as part of a Sunset Overdrive and Kinect Bundle for €399. If true... and it does tie in oh-so-nicely with megaton rumours that are coming to pass at an alarming rate... this suggests that Microsoft might be trying to deploy a direct competitor to Sony's white PS4 Destiny bundle this Christmas. As an Xbox One owner myself, I reckon that the white chassis will do a better job of disguising fingerprint smudges and scratches, if looking somewhat garish in the middle of your AV cabinet.
The timing is also suggestive. Microsoft are set to deliver their Gamescom press conference next week, meaning that retailers will have presumably been briefed about any major announcements in advance. This certainly lends credence to the rumours, and we'll likely be able to put this report to bed in a few days' time one way or another.
Would you be interested in buying a white Xbox One? Recently we suggested that Microsoft ought to release a cheaper model without HDMI throughput, but as the consumer, the ball's in your court! Bouncing lazily into your wallet, perhaps.
