Back in June, Wargaming.net announced a new, aerial combat MMO entitled World of Warplanes, that would see players piloting planes from WWI all the way up to the present day. Now the developers have asserted that the new MMO will share economic profiles with original hit World of Tanks, allowing players to spend their amassed Gold and Free Experience on items and features in the new game too.
Essentially, Wargaming have suggested that the two games will be playable from one account with resource management of the two completely up to the player. As their press release today read, 'World of Warplanes will feature a global interaction with World of Tanks, which will begin with sharing Gold and Free Experience between the two games for players, who have registered accounts in both of them on a single email.'
Wargaming.net had a rather large profile at E3, or at least hoped to, with a large publicity push seeing scantily clad models draped over tanks pretty much every time one turned a corner. We love tanks here at Dealspwn, at it's not surprising that a number of folk across the rest of the world do too, with World of Tanks doing really quite well for itself and amassing a large following.
We've got thousands of players on World of Tanks servers, who have gained a scarily large amount of free experience which they don't know how to spend. With this sharing option we say to them - hey, here's our new game, and it's as brutal and addictive as World of Tanks. - Wargaming.net CEO, Victor Kislyi.
This follow-up will see budding pilots choose between three different classes of plane - from single-engine dogfighting light aircraft, to twin-engine powerhouses and, finally, bombers and strafing aircraft - before leaping into an epic battle for the skies.
