"There's Been A Revolution In The Studio"
Andy Davidson, the man behind the Worms franchise, has returned to Team 17 after leaving the company for "professional reasons" 14 years ago.
Davidson originally left Team 17 during the Worms series' heyday, with the intention of pursuing "other interests" as the franchise became popular. However, he's returned to Team 17 to "scratch his creative itch" - and suggests that Team 17 has undergone a creative revolution in recent years.
I left Team17 feeling I hadn’t finished what I wanted to achieve, but for professional reasons I knew I had to walk away.
I’ve returned to scratch the creative itch that’s been bothering me for the last fourteen years. It’s nice to be back at Team17, it’s as though there’s been a revolution in the studio itself – there’s a real creative buzz about the place.
Speaking of revolutions, Team 17 recently announced Worms Revolution for PC and consoles, which is set to use an entirely new engine. Davidson plans to make sure that the new project stays true to Worms' spirit while offering new gameplay innovations.
The engine and physics in Worms Revolution are awesome, the team have developed a truly landmark game. I’ll be lending them my insight to ensure that the game balance is true to the spirit of the brand.
We'll keep you posted.
