It always amazes me just how much it still costs to replace broken accessories or add new peripherals for the current generation of consoles. The prices of controllers in particular have barely changed since launch.
I've had quite a hunt around and it's virtually impossible to find any kind of official wireless controller for less than £20 (cheapest I can come up with is £19.85 from Shop To for an original white one) and I haven't seen another black Elite Controller for less than £24.85 (Shop To again) so this is a fantastic bargain.
If you prefer your controllers to be white then Zavvi are also offering the original white game pads for the same price here.
While they eat through batteries if you don't splash yet more cash on a charge kit, it's hard to go back to wired once you've used a wireless controller. The newest Elite version of the 360 console has been furnished with a control pad to match and I certainly think it looks a whole lot nicer in black.
With more and more games coming with great multiplayer options you'll certainly want to have at least one spare controller on hand and if, like me, you live with a passive aggressive pal who takes their rage out on poor inanimate objects then you will find that keeping a few of these locked away in the cupboard (or maybe behind emergency glass) can be a (virtual) life saver.
