Microsoft recently held an "experiment" into competitive digital pricing by offering a 50% discount on Ryse: Son Of Rome, and we half-expected that to be the end of it.
Nope. Microsoft has announced that Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and recently-released Thief will soon receive enormous discounts on the Xbox Live marketplace, bringing them down to less than £25.
The promotion, running from Friday to Sunday, will see Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition slashed down to just £24.99. Considering that Brendan awarded a big fat juicy 10/10, this is a bit of a bargain to say the least.
Thief will also sell for £22.49: a saving of over £25. I'd love to describe it as a "steal," I really would, but Garrett's stealthy reboot has received very mixed reviews since last month's launch. Matt reckons it's pretty good, though - and at £22.49, I daresay a fair few more people will bite. Several people will also laugh long and hard, seeing the funny side of spending £30-40 just last month. How they'll laugh.
This is more like it, though once again, it's a sale rather than an attempt to normalise Xbox One's extravagant digital prices. If Microsoft can find a happy medium between £25 and £50-£60 at launch, they'll be cooking with gas.
