PSA: Xbox Live hit with sign-in issues [UPDATE: Now Resolved]

Sony's PS4 rest mode issue may have been making headlines, but the Xbox One and Microsoft are having problems of their own this week. Early today, I found myself unable to log onto Xbox Live and it turns out that I'm not alone.

"It’s come to our attention that some of you are unable to sign in to Xbox Live," reads the latest Xbox Live Status update. "Don’t worry, we’re working to get everything back to normal, and we’re grateful for your patience during this process. We’ll update you again in half an hour."

UPDATE: Music and video streaming is now up and running, while it seems that the issue is fairly localised with most players able to sign in as normal. With luck this will be speedily resolved, but until then, let us know if you've been affected!

UPDATE 2: Microsoft has been steadily restoring access to affected Xbox One owners over the last few hours. I am now able to sign in as of 19:08 BST, though the support site still flags up the issue. With luck we should be all sorted soon -- I'll see you in Advanced Warfare Ground War!

UPDATE 3: Microsoft has confirmed that the issue has been fixed as of 19:26, and we can at least confirm it on our end. Let us know if you're still having trouble, but otherwise, happy gaming folks!

I'm signed into Xbox right now and have a ton of friends online

@iAmTheWalrus2: Great news, good to hear it! Hopefully it's just affecting a minority of us then.

It's working here. Wasn't 30 minutes ago though. Glad they fix things so fast.

@RogerBobby: That's a good sign! I still can't sign in, but at least it's preventing me from shirking off and playing Advanced Warfare. :P

Dustiestcow  Nov. 5, 2014 at 16:25

Thanks for letting us know, DWEAR94 and Dustiestcow!

Just out of interest, I'm based in the UK (region 2/PAL) and still unable to log in. Wondering if this is worldwide or just affecting a specific region.

Either way, fingers crossed this gets sorted and I can get back to my last few hours of Double XP... I mean, working very very hard.

Terrible flamebait article.

JonLester  Nov. 6, 2014 at 16:23

@Thisauthoristerrible: Hi! I'll probably kick myself for replying, but sorry, where's the issue here? I assume you take offence at me putting the story into context by mentioning the previous news story we ran directly before this one - but where's the flaming?

All I know is that Microsoft resolved the problems over the course of the afternoon and I managed to get the last couple of hours of COD:AW double XP.

I agree that it's terrible flamebait.
Good flamebait would have people calling each other names and belittling the console they don't own but there's none of that at all, here.

Try harder, Jon! ;)
