That's right, folks, it's time for another Indie Uprising! When Xbox Live indie developers grow weary of shoddy avatar games and a lack of publicity from Microsoft, they don't sit back and wait for someone to fix it; rather, they unite and organise massive festivals of epic games. The Summer Uprising is dated for 22nd August, and will showcase ten independent hits from well-known boutique studios... and to celebrate, the revamped site is now live complete with an awesome new trailer.
This year's Summer Uprising will take place directly after the official Microsoft Summer Of Arcade, with the objective of raising awareness of the Indie scene as well as demonstrating that the service has infinitely more to offer than weak zombie shooters and tawdry avatar apps. 2010's Winter Uprising was fairly successful, although sales unfortunately didn't reflect the outstanding quality of the games on offer. You can check out our coverage here and here.
Nominations for the first eight games have now closed, and the organisers have posted a new trailer showing some of the titles that may or may not have made the cut. Enjoy.
You'll be able to vote for the two remaining titles over on the official Facebook page later this month.
Microsoft were slow to officially support the Winter Uprising, but we suspect that they'll be much quicker of the mark this time around. After all, everybody wins: we get great games, Indie developers get paid and MS get a cut. Here's hoping that it will be a huge success, and we'll be sure to keep you posted with news of the final cut and full reviews nearer the time.
