Xbox LIVE's 'Metro' Update Goes Live Tomorrow, TV Partners Detailed

Microsoft made a strong pledge back at E3 that they'd be taking the entertainment bull by the horns this year and finally transforming the Xbox into a media centre to finally rival the on demand trinkets offered by its competition. Well, that process finally begins to get rolled out tomorrow with the new Metro update and Microsoft have provided a full list of partner along with a vague indication of when we might expect to see their products on Xbox LIVE. The BBC is on there, but slated for 'Early 2012.

'A new era in entertainment begins where all your entertainment is together in one place—your games, movies, TV shows, music and sports,' said Don Mattrick, president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft. 'With this update, Xbox 360 system owners will experience Kinect voice control integrated with Bing search, making your TV and entertainment experiences more social and personal than ever.'

Let's not forget that Metro will also usher in a whole new bunch of features including Facebook integration, a multiplayer Beacon to allow players to signal friends on Facebook or Xbox LIVE when they want a bit of company, and cloud saves to allow players to log in on other machines and pick up where they left off without lugging a hard drive around everywhere.

'What is really does is breathe new life into your TV and your entertainment experience, you don't have multiple devices, there's so much on here,' said Pawan Bhardwaj, UK product manager for Xbox Live, chatting to GI.biz. 'And it's not just about the applications we're going to be launching, it's an ongoing process, so throughout 2012 we'll have more apps, so it's constant evolution.'

We'll have our own impressions piece later this week. In the meantime, here's that list of TV partners in full:

Utterly useless.

All of the Xbox Live UK staff should be dismissed because they cannot perceive reality.
