XCOM: Enemy Unknown Deploying Onto iOS

2K Games, Firaxis, iOS games, Strategy games, XCOM: Enemy Unknown

Firaxis have announced that XCOM: Enemy Unknown will be coming to iOS in its entirety, netting you "the full game" with "all the tactical, strategic gameplay that you have experienced on the PC and consoles." We can see the squad-level strategy translating nicely to an iPad, making the tablet feel like a piece of real battlefield technology. Pricing and release date TBA.

And no, 2K haven't announced an Android version, before you ask.

Heh, sorry, but someone always asks. :3

Most publishers aren't anywhere near as gun-shy about Android as they used to be (because they want a piece of that big fat juicy install base), but piracy and difficulty with optimising for such a huge range of firmware versions/devices are still seen as a bit of a stumbling block for some.

Still, an Android version of XCOM could still happen - nothing's set in stone. Any number of games make their way onto Android after the iOS version launches.
