Xenoblade is the best JRPG in years, and as far as I'm concerned, provides a stern challenge to Skyrim in terms of GOTY status. It offers a massive open world to explore, fantastic combat and deep inter-character relationships, in fact, it's a tour de force that makes the whole genre relevant again. GAME, Grainger and Amazon have sadly finished squabbling over a short-lived £19.99 Christmas price tag, but Play.com and Amazon have once again locked horns to provide a £5 saving.
Could this finally be a hint of a price drop for one of this year's best games? Xenoblade Chronicles has commanded a premium price since its summer launch (due, in part, to the fact that us critics lavished praise upon the "best JRPG in years"), but Amazon and GAME are finally squabbling over a £2 saving. Xenoblade offers a massive, immersive world to explore, with fantastic combat and inter-character relationships; it's a tour de force that makes the whole genre relevant again.
Now that it has been finally confirmed for a US release, though, this slight price wobble could be followed by a larger crash in the new year. Your call.
Update: It turns out that the £2 saving was just a slight wobble before a bona fide price avalanche! Thanks to Rhys135 at Hot UK Deals and Gunn for pointing that out.
