"Only Activision And Sony" Could Green Light It
Nihilistic has confirmed that Vita FPS Call Of Duty: Black Ops Declassified won't feature the fan-favourite zombie mode, with the 4v4 multiplayer and survival gametype taking priority.
“Will it have Zombies?” postulated Activision publicity Guru Dan Amrich on One Of Swords. "That’s the top question I’ve gotten about the PlayStation Vita-exclusive Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified since it was announced. Unfortunately the official answer is no, but for what strikes me as a decent reason: Multiplayer took priority."
Amrich was keen to stress that Declassified will feature a horde-based survival mode that's playable in multiplayer, but alas, no flesh eating revenants.
A recent tweet from Nihilistic suggests that pressure from Activision and Sony is to blame for the lack of the fan-favourite gametype. "Only Activision and Sony have the power to greenlight Zombies mode for CoD Vita," it states. "We would love to do it if they ask. But its not our call."
Black Ops: Declassified is currently drawing a lot of fire from the critical community due to its pared-down approach to the Call Of Duty formula. We'll need to wait until November to find out whether it can beat Nihilistic's lacklustre Resistance: Burning Skies.
